Post-Folk 5 Piece from Nottingham, UK

Biography

Pict make “post-folk” music that is as emotionally tender as it is explosively cathartic. Emerging from Nottingham’s thriving independent music scene, the five-piece have built a reputation for blending intricate vocal harmonies, dynamic arrangements and raw emotional intensity into songs that shift effortlessly between intimacy and chaos.

Following the release of their debut EP, which has amassed over 14,000 Spotify streams, the band quickly established themselves as one of the most exciting new acts in the Midlands. A string of UK shows supporting artists including Westside Cowboy and Shaking Hand showcased their captivating live presence, culminating in a two-night sold-out hometown run at Nottingham's The Grove.

Drawing equally from folk storytelling, indie experimentation and post-rock scale, Pict's music is defined by contrast: delicate melodies give way to towering climaxes, moments of vulnerability erupt into communal release, and theatrical performances sit comfortably alongside deeply personal songwriting. Their live shows have become known for this emotional unpredictability, creating an experience that feels both intimate and exhilarating.

With a second EP on the horizon, Pict are set to expand upon the foundations laid by their debut release, pushing their sound into broader and more ambitious territory while retaining the emotional honesty at its core. Featuring several fan-favourite songs that have already been tried, tested and refined in a live setting, the forthcoming EP captures the dynamic energy and cathartic intensity that have become hallmarks of the band's performances. As momentum continues to build beyond their Nottingham home, Pict are establishing themselves as one of the most compelling new voices in the UK's alternative music landscape.

Press Highlights

“The band boast a stylish and intoxicating indie-folk feel, with Zach’s theatrical vocals and performance elements really ringing throughout. It's a joy to see. The whole band are completely on point, providing really beautiful sonic energy and then pushing it into new spaces with elements like trumpets, harmonies and even vocal fry parts at times. There’s a whimsical joy to the band, an appreciation of the stage time but also a knowledge of their own ability.”

“The self-described ‘post-folk’ group delivered a set filled with passion and intensity that sets them apart. Songs often began in tightly wound harmonies before erupting into fiery breakdowns, the rhythm section driving the shifts with confidence. By the time the lead singer entered the crowd during the final song, Pict had fully won over the audience, making what they described as their biggest show to date feel like a triumph.”
